Formaldehyde is the simplest form of aldehyde, and is one of the most basic chemical elements in the chemical industry. It is a colorless gas at room temperature, soluble in water, alcohol, and other polar solvents. In general, this product exists as an aqueous solution with a concentration of 37% formaldehyde and 3-7% methanol for stabilization purposes.

Aqueous formaldehyde solution is used to manufacture amino resins (UF, MUF, and MF resins), phenolic resins (coating resins), surfactants (or emulsifiers), leather tanning additives, antiseptics, preservatives, pharmaceuticals, and various products. Organics such as polyoxymethylene, butanediol, neopentyl glycol, pentaerythritol, trimethylpropane, dimethylene diisocyanate, hexamethylene tetramine (hexamine), chemical plasticizers, etc..
