Dimethylformamide is a colourless/pale yellow liquid with a pungent amine odour. It absorbs moisture, so direct exposure to the atmosphere should be avoided. It is a multi-use organic solvent and is known as a universal solvent. It is miscible in water and many other solvents that are used in many industrial applications.
